

Rena Klein FAIA is principal of Rena Klein Architect, a Seattle firm specializing in designing homes and remodels. She attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh before transferring to the University of Oregon, where she received her Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1973. After working as a remodeling contractor, she opened her design firm in Seattle in 1985. In 1989, Rena became licensed to practice architecture in Washington State.
Rena has been active in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and in 2002/2003, served as President of AIA Seattle. Through AIA Seattle, Rena teaches Saturday Seminar 201: Home Making—How the Design and Construction Process Works. This is a full-day workshop, offered once a year as a follow-up to the popular Saturday Seminar: How to Work with an Architect, a 3-hour program offered monthly at AIA Seattle. In February 2006, Rena was elected to the AIA College of Fellows in recognition for her contribution to the advancement of the profession. For more information, please read the AIA Seattle announcement.
In addition, Rena teaches Small Firm Practice Management through AIA Seattle's continuing education program and is a lecturer at the University of Washington College of Architecture and Urban Planning.
